Tiffany Cromwell finished a strong second at GP Plouay after instigating the race winning breakaway. ORICA-AIS put four riders in the first major split of the day and two in the second. Cromwell attacked from a group of ten riders, spurning a three-rider breakaway with Marianne Vos (RBW) and Elisa Longo Borghini (HPU). Vos attacked the Cromwell and Longo Borghini on the final major climb to take the win. Cromwell attacked Longo Borghini on a small hill 1.5 kilometers from the finish to comfortably finish second.
Cromwell was not the only ORICA-AIS rider to stand on the podium in Plouay. With the eight race World Cup series finishing today, Arndt confirmed her second-place overall standing in the series.
“Today was a really big team effort, and it was my turn to fly the flag. I’m happy to do the job and deliver the result.” - Cromwell
