GP de Plouay - Lorient Agglomération - Race Overview

Tour of Britain stage winner Sarah Roy won the bunch kick for third place for ORICA-SCOTTwomen at the GP de Plouay in France today as two leaders battled out the win from a late attack in what became an animated event.

As usual with this race the action came late and it came over the climbs as repeated attacks in the closing 40kilometres brought the race to life.

Strong riding from Gracie Elvin brought the front of the race back together before the wining move was made by Lizzie Deignan (Boels-Dolmans) as Rachel Neylan and Amanda Sprattworked tirelessly to try and make the late catch.

In the end it was to no avail and Deignan held out for the win as Roy took the sprint for third place and a strong result for the team.

“It was quite a negative race at the start,” said sport director Gene Bates. “And it continued like that for a while, nobody wanted to let anything go and to be honest it wasn’t surprising, the action usually happens late here and it was no different today.”
