Borsele ITT - Race Overview

Shara Gillow was the top finisher for ORICA-AIS in the individual time trial in Borsele on Friday evening. The Oceania Time Trial Champion slotted into sixth place, covering the 19.9 kilometre course in 27’22. Loes Gunnewijk was three spots further back with the ninth fastest time amongst the 67 starters.

Reigning Time Trial World Champion Ellen van Dijk  (Boels-Dolmans) won the event with a time of 26’48 whilst Specialized-lululemon teammates Chantal Blaak and Taylor Wiles secured the lesser spots on the podium.

“It was the first time trial for the girls in Europe. I thought it was a really good effort. We came away with some things for both Shara and Loes to work on, but they’re nothing major. We’re just fine tuning. They’re both obviously quite experienced in the discipline. We’ll just work on some minor tweaks in the next period before we hit the next time trial. Loes is looking to do a good ride at her National Championships in June. This is an important measuring stick and stepping stone for her as she targets that goal.” - Sport Director Gene Bates
