Volta Ciclista a Catalunya - Race Overview

Tour de France white jersey winner Adam Yates and Spaniard Carlos Verona finished safely in the front bunch on today’s final stage to wrap up a successful week at the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya for ORICA-SCOTT to place fourth and eighth place overall.

The final stage was won by Alejandro Valverde (Movistar) who also secured the overall victory with Yates remaining in fourth place overall after consistent riding all week.

Unfortunately yesterday’s stage winner Daryl Impey, the team’s main hope for today’s stage success, crashed in the final four kilometres, yet sport director Neil Stephens remained positive and praised the team’s performances throughout the seven-day tour.

“We didn’t know exactly where Daryl was in the finish, so there was bit of confusion if to go for it with him,” said Stephens. “He crashed at the top of the climb around four kilometres, that was unfortunate but we still have a lot of positives from the week.”
