Local Basque rider Mikel Nieve will make his 2021 season debut for Team BikeExchange on Saturday at the one-day race, GP Indurain.
The Team BikeExchange line-up is diverse, as the squad look to maximise their opportunities and go on the offensive. With a first category climb, the Alto Guirguillano, coming just after the half-way mark followed by two more second category climbs, the race, as always remains fairly unpredictable with the team looking to benefit from that open approach.

Damien Howson (AUS)
Mikel Nieve (SPA)
Barnabás Peák (HUN)
“I will finally be back to the races and I am pretty motivated to do it in the home race. It is always special to race close to home and especially in Indurain where I’ve been racing on these roads so many times when I was a child.
“The race will be hard as always and this year, with more WorldTour teams participating it will be even more. Every year there are a lot of movements before the final climb and as a team we have to be ready to play aggressively there for try to have a good result.”
Julian Dean – Sport Director
“One of the key things about having a race like Indurain in the program is to provide opportunities for everyone, for guys that don’t necessarily get them.
It is quite a dynamic race, there’s always quite a lot of different outcomes so we will certainly be trying to mix it up and give anyone that wants the opportunity to try and do something there.”
