Team BikeExchange women head to Spain with an open approach for a block of May racing

After a busy start to the season with the cobble and Ardennes Classics, Team BikeExchange women regroup for their next phase of racing in Spain throughout May, kicking-off with the four-day stage race, Setmana Valenciana.

The mixed line-up gives the Australian outfit the opportunity to go on the offensive and race aggressively, boasting the speed of Arianna Fidanza through to the climbing talent of Georgia Williams.

“Even though there’s not too many WorldTour teams at Setmana Valenciana, I think it will still be hard racing with lots of people wanting a result and the courses look pretty solid.

It will be nice to have more of an open team plan so everyone can have a chance in getting a result for themselves. This also makes the racing fun and a little more relaxed which will be nice.

I am also looking forward to having my own opportunity to go for a result myself, a few of the stages do look like they could be quite good for me.

Alejandro Gonzales Tablas – Sport Director
“We’re going to Valencia to give an opportunity to the young riders and the riders that usually work for the leaders. So, obviously we go in with a pretty open plan.

The course is going to be quite demanding, so it suits riders like Georgia and Janneke and we saw that they were in good form in the Ardennes. Then the younger riders we have will go to take their own opportunities too, I think this will make for some really good racing.”
