Italian climber Kevin Colleoni has secured third place overall at the SAZKA Tour after taking fifth on the final stage in Šternberk.
The 22-year-old climbed to fifth place on stage two, before going one better on the Queen Stage yesterday when he crossed the line in fourth to move inside the top three on the general classification.
In the end, the day came down to the finishing circuits, with Colleoni following the moves and taking another top five finish. The result was enough to secure third place overall after four intense days of racing in the Czech Republic.
An offensive team ride on today’s final stage saw Tsgabu Grmay and Tanel Kangert both going up the road on the attack during the 179.9km course.
“Today the main goal was the podium in GC and the team did another amazing job to help me all day.
We did everything as planned and I just had to defend myself from the attacks in the final laps. I think we have achieved the best possible result here.”
