Volta Ciclista a Catalunya
Spain 🇪🇸
20th – 26th March
Filippo Zana:
“I think I am starting to feel better and better as the season progresses. At Strade Bianche I was feeling good and I used these last couple of weeks to try to improve my form even more. We do have a strong team for this race, we will try to always fight with the best teams and riders during the full race, stage by stage, trying to take the most out of each day.
We will also be attentive to the overall classification to see if we can have a good position in GC, but also try to win some stages would be nice as well. The target is to enjoy it and give to the team the best possible results. Also to pay off the trust they have given to me to join them. The level of this race is quite high and it will be interesting to see how we feel and how we have prepared for the season so far compared to the others.”
Pieter Weening – Sport Director:
“We won’t have a pure leader for this race, we will try to go for stages with the strong group of riders we are taking to Catalunya. Everybody will have their chances and can play their cards by demonstrating their form. If some of them have strong legs, such as Zana, Colleoni or Scotson, we can also try to target GC with them, but it will depend on how they will arrive for this race after an intense period of training.
Stage 2 will already show who has the legs for this event, as it will be the first climbing day with a mountain finish. So after this stage we will be able to plan our strategy for the other days of racing, planning with some riders who are maybe a few minutes behind, to go into breakaways or final climbs on the attack and try to take results in this way. We will make the most out of this and see how some of these riders are feeling, also for future events.”
