Tour de Hongrie
Hungary 🇭🇺
Wednesday 10th – Sunday 14th May
Dylan Groenewegen:
“I had some time off from racing and in addition to spending some quality time with my family, I’m glad I could get in some solid training for the upcoming block of races, starting from Hungary. Last year I won a stage in Hungary – hopefully we can try to win more stages this year.
As always, it won’t be easy, as the level of competition is getting higher and higher at every race, but with the line up of riders Team Jayco AlUla have put together we can be amongst the top contenders in every stage that suits the sprinters.
I feel good, my legs are good, and now I just need to be back in the bunch to get the racing adrenaline that gives me that extra power in the final metres of each race.”
Tristan Hoffman (Sport Director):
“We have built a strong team in order to try to win stages during this Tour of Hungary. We have Dylan there and looking at the layout, stages one, two and five should fit him well. Then stages three and four are more for the climbers to try to win, and it’s most likely the GC contenders will play their cards there.
We have Rudy Porter coming back from injury and will see how he will feel to support the team together with Jan Maas. Then we have a strong lead out train for Dylan, with Kell O’Brien, Elmar Reinders and Luka Mezgec who have been performing very well this season. So we are confident we are in good shape.
Competition is high. Other teams will also bring many top sprinters like Jakobsen, Ewan and Bennett, so it won’t be easy, but we are going to give it our all to win as many stages as possible.”
