Team Jayco AlUla is the first Australian Team to compete in the UCI WorldTour – the world cycling organisation that coordinates male and female professional teams. In 2023, the team began its 12th season and it remains one of the most successful teams competing in the UCI calendar, having achieved over 450 victories over the past years. The team is built from 30 male riders and 15 female riders, in addition to approximately 70 staff members that take care of the performance, logistics, nutrition, marketing and communications.
Umberto Veronesi Foundation (Fondazione Umberto Veronesi) was founded in 2003 on the initiative of Professor Umberto Veronesi, and with the support of many other internationally renowned scientists and intellectuals, including 11 Nobel Prize winners, with the aim of promoting and financing excellent scientific research and prevention projects, health education and dissemination of science.
The support and collaboration of Team Jayco AlUla with the ‘Fondazione Umberto Veronesi’ is born thanks to the friendship of Brent Copeland the General Manager of GreenEDGE Cycling, and Francesca Ruffini the Head of Fondazione Umberto Veronesi’s Como Delegation, and will be articulated through various initiatives starting with charity auctions in support of scientific research that will see the possibility of being able to experience a stage of the Giro d’Italia directly from the team’s vehicles.
In addition to this engaging experience, both an autographed jersey and the custom Giant bike of current Italian road champion, Filippo Zana from Thiene, who is currently racing at the 2023 edition of the ‘Corsa rosa’, will be auctioned off.
Aside from the Giro d’Italia, Team Jayco AlUla will continue to support the ‘Fondazione Umberto Veronesi’ with various awareness campaigns, to help highlight the importance of physical activity as a means of preventing numerous diseases.
Brent Copeland – Team Jayco AlUla General Manager
“We are very happy to be able to start this collaboration with a company of excellence such as the ‘Fondazione Umberto Veronesi’ and for this, I first of all thank Francesca Ruffini, with whom we started discussing this opportunity.
Scientific research and the fight against cancer are issues that unfortunately affect the whole of society, and we must make our contribution as sports people through various initiatives that help raise awareness in the world of sport and beyond.
We will develop many themes and activities in the future and we will do our best to reach as many people as possible about these issues and work together with the foundation to support their continued growth.”
Monica Ramaioli – Fondazione Umberto Veronesi General Director
“During the past twenty years, Fondazione has carried out activities and projects related to the importance of physical activity as a means of preventing numerous diseases, and we are honoured that GreenEDGE Cycling is by our side to support scientific research, also spreading messages related to healthy lifestyles.”
Francesca Ruffini – Head of Fondazione Umberto Veronesi’s Como Delegation
“I’m glad that GreenEDGE Cycling has decided to support Fondazione Umberto Veronesi above all, because I have always believed that sport is an important weapon of prevention and a vehicle of fundamental messages for the health of all of us.”
