Yates and Matthews all in for Team Jayco AlUla at GP de Québec and Montréal

Tour de France stage winners Michael Matthews and Simon Yates will lead Team Jayco AlUla with a two-pronged attack at both Canadian WorldTour races, GP de Québec (8th Sept) and Montréal (10th Sept).

Matthews has enjoyed five trips to the podium in Quebec over the last six years which includes two victories in 2018 and 2019. For the 12th edition of the event, the riders will tackle 201km of a dynamic, urban circuit with 16 laps accumulating to 2,900m of altitude gain.

For Sunday’s GP de Montréal, a race which Matthews has also been victorious (2018), the riders will face more altitude metres with the total coming in at 4,800meters of 18 laps, to give a distance of 221km. With this, the Australian outfit has recruited climbing support with the likes of Chris Harper and Lucas Hamilton, who recently finished forth at the Maryland Classic. With Alex Balmer, Lawson Craddock and Chris Juul-Jensen brought in as the work horses to support the leading pair.

Michael Matthews

“I always go back to Canada with great pleasure. Quebec and Montrèal are two of my favourite races on the WorldTour calendar, not just because I’ve always had good results there in the past but because they are two really challenging courses that, with each lap, create a great selection in the peloton. I raced last Sunday in Plouay and although I just missed out on the top-10, I had good legs and good sensations so I’m feeling ready. I’ll see you Friday!”

Mathew Hayman – Sport Director

”We are really looking forward to these two races that this team has won on a number of occasions. Friday’s race is one that Michael Mathews really enjoys and has many great memories from with two wins and numerous podium places there before. We move to Montréal on Sunday where the race can be more selective and suit the climbers a bit more, so we go into both races with strong options with both Michael and Simon.”
