A 3rd place finish on the final stage for Trentin who has to settle for 2nd overall at TOB

Tour de France stage winner Matteo Trentin showed his form once again today to sprint to third place on the final stage of the OVO Energy Tour of Britain, despite being slightly out of positon in the final kilometre. It was Mathieu van der Poel (Corendon-Circus) who took the stage honours, claiming a third consecutive stage win, which was enough to deny the Italian Mitchelton-SCOTT rider the overall race victory. Nieve moves himself to 10th overall after Howson spends the day in the break

Trentin fights on to take second place on the penultimate stage of the OVO Energy Tour of Britain

Stage two winner Matteo Trentin gave it his all on the final uphill drag on today’s penultimate stage of the OVO Energy Tour of Britain, however, the Mitchelton-SCOTT rider was unable to match the acceleration of Mathieu van der Poel (Corendon-Circus), who claimed a second consecutive victory and extended his overall lead over Trentin.
