Two-time Olympic medalist Sam Bewley and former National madison champion Christian Meier enjoyed their return to the boards this weekend, racing at the inaugural Revolution Champions League in Manchester.

The two ORICA-BikeExchange riders competed in a total of nine races over two-days in front of huge crowds with a mixture of entertaining events, ranging from a rapid one-kilometre madison time trial to a tough 30kilometre points race.

The duo quickly found their track legs, settling in to the blistering pace after their solid season on the road with the Australian outfit.

“It was fun being back on the track,” explained Bewley. “It is my first time racing since the Olympics Games in London, but it isn’t as easy as I remember it.”

"The last time I raced here in Manchester was at the Track World Championships in 2008, so it is nice to be back once again."

The final result of the Revolutiuon Champions League was measured over the two-days after the total number of points gained from the highest rider from the team in each event.

After the first two sessions, team JLT Condor led the standings with a sizeable lead and continued to dominate throughout the final evening session.

The ORICA-BikeExchange pair gained most of their points in the team elimination races and gradually moved up the ranking with better performances on the second day of racing.

“It’s been a great two days of racing with all the different races and we definitely improved with each race," Bewley continued. "I’m now looking forward to the grand final next weekend in London and hopefully we can jump up a few places.”
