Briton Adam Blythe has wrapped up his debut appearance for ORICA-GreenEDGE with his fourth top ten finish at the Tour of Qatar.

Blythe finished the sixth and final stage in sixth position behind stage winner Sam Bennett (Bora Argon 18). The result follows a fifth on stage five, fourth on stage four and seventh on stage two in a successful introduction to the team.

“Adam has shown this week that he fits well in the team,” sport director Laurenzo Lapage said. “The boys are ready to work for him because he was always there this week when he was protected.”

“For sure Adam will be even better in Oman and get the protection from the team in the stages we go for him.

“He's fitting well in the group and once he can make another step we know he can finish it off and the boys feel that.”

With the action close at the top of general classification, bonus seconds available from intermediate sprints and final line honours gave no chance to any breakaways on the final day of racing.

A group of four tried their luck early on, but was given just two minutes advantage before being reeled back in less than 70km into the 113km stage.

Etixx – Quickstep then sent Iljo Keisse up the road to claim bonus seconds at the second intermediate sprint in protection of the overall lead held by teammate and reigning champion Niki Terpstra.

Shortly after the race was back together for the bunch kick finale, Terpstra holding onto the jersey for his second consecutive overall victory.
