Garfoot time trials to sixth place at Boels Rental Ladies Tour

Fri 4 Sep 2015

Oceania champion Katrin Garfoot rode to a sixth place in the Boels Rental Ladies Tour stage four time trial in Holland this afternoon.

Garfoot finished the technical 11.4km course as the provisional fastest time, just one second ahead of Annemiek van Vleuten (Bigla Pro Cycling).

As the remaining starters finished, the ORICA-AIS rider was pushed down to sixth, 27seconds behind winner and new race leader Lisa Brennauer (Velocio-SRAM).

The performance puts Garfoot into 13th overall, 38seconds behind Brennauer, going into the final two days.

“It was a good ride,” sport director Gene Bates said. “I think she got absolutely everything out of herself that was possible today.”

“It was a flat course with just one freeway overpass, but it was a technical one with sections of paving and lots of roundabouts.

“A top five would have been a really good result and we are still happy with a top ten but there is definitely room for improvement and I really think she can be up there in the top few riders.

“Kat is in her best shape, form wise, of the year.  We are confident she can make a few adjustments and be really competitive in the world championships coming up.”
