Cort top ten finish in final stage of Eneco Tour

Sun 16 Aug 2015

Magnus Cort Nielsen filled out the top ten today on the final stage of Eneco Tour, after an aggressive day of racing with Adam Blythe in the breakaway for the first half of the stage.

The parcours were a tribute to the Tour of Flanders, one of the hardest classics one day races of the season.

Today's 189 kilometre route departed from St.Pieters-Leeuw to finish in Geraardsbergen, with a route that took them over the famous cobbled climbs, and brought them to a finish line halfway up the Muur, after already completing the circuit twice.

Blythe started the day forming part of an 11 rider break that quickly grew to 14 riders. The break was caught by a series of ever shifting late attacks, which eventually saw Manuel Quinziato (BMC Racing Team) solo to the stage victory.

"It was another hard race today, but the crowds were fantastic, so many people" remarked sports director Laurenzo Lapage.

"We knew Magnus and Jens (Keukeleire) could have a result today, so we tried to get them both into the final.  For Magnus, this final was very important, looking towards his future.  In a stage today to see that he finished at 100%, even though he didn't win, to go and do it in that style and to try, landing inside the top 10: everyone knows that is a strong result"

With the Eneco Tour completed, the team is now looking to it's next goals in a week's time: The Vuelta a Espana, and the Vattenfall Cyclassic.
