Mon 5 Nov 2018

Fans of cycling and sponsorship are in for a treat at the 2018 Web Summit which kicks off in Lisbon, Portugal tonight, with the announcement of a speaking and exhibition presence for Mitchelton-SCOTT.

2018 was a hugely successful season for the Mitchelton-SCOTT team, with the men’s outfit winning 38 races throughout the year including victory in the Vuelta Espana with Simon Yates, and the women’s team winning 26 races including the Giro Rosa and the individual world time trial championship with Annemiek Van Vleuten. The team's presence at the Web Summit is further recognition of their popularity, reach and strategic innovation.

The team will join fellow speakers from the worlds of sport, business and politics such as Tony Blair, Ronaldinho, Stephanie McMahon, Nico Rosberg, Garry Kasparov and Antonio Gutierrez, Secretary General of the UN.

With their Australian heritage, their Italian base and their strategic focus on developing professional bike racing in China, the team can lay claim to being the first genuinely global cycling project – a mission they will be sharing at the summit.

World champion Annemiek Van Vleuten will speak on the sport's stage on Tuesday, Nov 6th, while delegates will have the opportunity to experience the team bus, the team bikes and the race day experience as part of a full pro cycling team set up at the conference.

For the lucky few at the f.ounders summit later in the week, they will be treated to an invite-only team ride in the company of 2016 Paris Roubaix winner Mathew Hayman.

If you are a visitor to the summit, you will not be able to miss the team bus parked inside the conference hall, also, make sure to look out for General Manager Shayne Bannan and Commercial Director Darach McQuaid for an insight into the team, their plans to open the Chinese cycling market to the world and their ambitions for more success in 2019.
