ORICA-BikeExchange to end season with aggressive racing in JapanWed 19 Oct 2016
In the final weekend of racing for the 2016 season, ORICA-BikeExchange will send a small but aggressive team to the Japan Cup.
The two-day event, featuring a criterium on Saturday and road race on Sunday, will coincide with the final stages of the Tour of Abu Dhabi as the season finales.
ORICA-BikeExchange will take a versatile team including Paris-Roubaix winner Mathew Hayman, Dane Chris Juul-Jensen, retiring Canadian Christian Meier and two young Australians in Robert Power and stagiaire Nick Schultz.
Sport director Matt Wilson said the squad is motivated to race aggressively in attempt to finish 2016 on a high.
“These two races are traditionally fast finishes,” Wilson explained. “We don’t have a sprinter in the team so we will look to be aggressive and try to shake up the racing to create an opportunity.”
“It’s going to be a challenge given the parcours, but all of the team are motivated for the trip to Japan and to walk away from our final race of the season with a victory.”
