ORICA-BikeExchange to ride in honour of Pablo Sanz on stage 15 of La Vuelta a Espana

Sun 4 Sep 2016

Today, on stage 15 of La Vuelta a Espana, ORICA-BikeExchange will ride in memory of Pablo Sanz, who was one of the team’s biggest supporters.

Pablo passed away from cancer in May at just 12 years of age.

He loved sport, he loved cycling, he loved Esteban Chaves and his team ORICA-BikeExchange. Pablo loved life.

At nine years old Pablo had his right leg amputated. But with an enormous capacity to overcome, that didn’t stop him riding his bike.

We will keep his message and his example of life with us today and forever:

“I’ve lived life the fullest and I’ve done everything that I’ve enjoyed. Everyone that knew me, I send my strength so that you are happy and never put limits on yourself. You don’t always win. To try and, above all, enjoy is the bigger victory.”

- Pablo Sanz

ORICA-BikeExchange will remember the young cyclist from Zaragoza, the region of today’s stage, with a special sticker containing Pablo's name and his favourite number 53 that he rode with in his final races.

We will also wear a yellow ribbon in support of the fight against childhood cancer.
