ORICA-GreenEDGE Place Two in ATOC Time Trial Top TwentyMon 12 May 2014
ORICA-GreenEDGE put two riders in the top 20 in the Amgen Tour of California individual time trial in Folsom on Monday. Bradley Wiggins (Team Sky) won stage two with a show-stopping 23’18 ahead of Rohan Dennis (Garmin-Sharp) and Taylor Phinney (BMC). Jens Mouris slotted into 16th place with a time of 24’55. Howson stopped the clock 25’04, good for 20th place.
“I thought a top ten from either Jens or Damo would have been a really great ride,” said Sport Director Matt Wilson. “They were just outside that. It’s a pretty good day for them both considering they’ve come straight from Turkey and haven’t had much time to get over jet lag.”
“For the rest of the guys, it was just a matter of getting through the day,” Wilson added. “Esteban [Chaves] and Adam [Yates] are looking to do something on Diablo tomorrow. They took it as easy as they could today. We’re working for the two of them on stage three.”
