PhD Scholarship: Data Analytics in Cycling

ECU is seeking an Industry PhD candidate to undertake research in the School of Medical and Health Science and with Mitchelton-SCOTT Professional Cycling Team. 

This unique opportunity will allow a candidate to carry out high quality applied data analytics research with a European-based professional cycling team and Edith Cowan University.

The PhD scholar will use multiple data sets to answer performance related questions and generate models of athlete and performance characteristics.

The project aims to develop better understanding of the multifaceted components that contribute to elite performances, athlete development and talent identification in road cycling.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate strong knowledge and research skills in mathematics, data science, data visualisation, statistics or other relevant academic field. Familiarity with sports science or competitive cycling is not a pre-requisite.

The PhD scholar will conduct their PhD with ECU but have the opportunity to travel with Mitchelton-SCOTT Professional Cycling team as appropriate.

Eligibility 
Applicants should have research experience, and hold a first class Honours degree, Masters degree or equivalent qualification.
