ORICA-AIS enter this Tour in full preparation mode for the Worlds TTT on September 16th in Valkenburg (Holland). Seven riders have just finished a six-day training camp in Limburg and will race the Tour to continue this preparation and test their form.
The Brainwash Ladies Tour this year is interesting both for it's timing in relation to the World Championships and for the Team Time Trial (TTT) held on stage 2 over a distance similar to that of the World TTT Championships. Over this stage, the team intend to test the technical aspect of our riding that we have worked on during the camp.
In addition to the TTT on stage 2, the Tour is made up of four long flat stages on stage one, three, four and five. Expect to see the usual hard fought echelon style racing for which Holland is famous. Stage six on the other hand offers the opportunity to race on hilly terrain in the Limburg area which will be used for the World Championships. As such, it will provide a good test of form for the World Championships Road Race.
Judith Arndt will be the team leader in the Tour. ORICA-AIS will also rely heavily on Loes Gunnewijk's experience and demonstrated ability in this style of racing. Melissa Hoskins will return to international road racing after participating in the track events at the Olympic Games, and she will be testing her sprinting ability against the very best in the world. Alexis Rhodes, Shara Gillow and Linda Villumsen will complete our squad.
