After a couple of attempts to make the days break, ORICA-GreenEDGE took a back seat to the general classification players on the fifteenth stage of the Giro d’Italia.
Another aggressive start saw countless attack attempts, including efforts by Esteban Chaves and Pieter Weening, before the eventual ten-man breakaway move was formed.
From then on, the Australian outfit saved resources for more attempts in the final week of racing. Up ahead, Mikel Landa (Astana Pro Team) claimed the stage honours from a very select group of contenders.
“The plan today was to get someone in the break and the boys did a good job,” sport director Matt White said.
