ORICA-AIS wrapped up the five-day Italian Tour with only two finishers after losing Rowena Fry to illness and Amanda Spratt to fatigue. Tiffany Cromwell was the best-placed rider for the team in eighth overall. Jessie MacLean slotted back a few places back in 15th. The Australian outfit added Toscana as a late addition to their race schedule in an effort to give riders on the long list for the Australian National Team at the Road World Championships an opportunity to get more racing in their legs ahead of their final race of the season.
"We came to Toscana for put more racing in our legs before Worlds, and, in that sense, we got what we needed out of racing here. This race is always a bit different (ie. crazy and chaotic), but it was good. I’m glad to have raced it." - Jessie MacLean
