GP Industria & Arigianato - Race Overview

South African national road and time trial champion Drayl Impey shook off the effects of yesterday’s Strade Bianche to produce a strong ride at the 41st GP Industria and Artigianto today, sprinting to eighth place from the chasing bunch.

Mitchelton-SCOTT had set their stall out early with a motivated approach to try and defend the 2017 title of Adam Yates. Big Canadian Svein Tuft took up the reins in the peloton before Impey and Yates positioned themselves well amongst a large group of favourites that formed on the final climb.

The attacks flew over the San Baronto climb as the group fractured and reformed over and over again until Matej Mohoric (Bahrain-Merida) went clear on the descent developing a lead that he held onto over the flat final three kilometres to the finish in Lamporecchio.
