Mitchelton-SCOTT women tried to break up their race with Australian champion Amanda Spratt pushing the pace on the climb, but they settled into the bunch behind a successful breakaway.
Eventually, it was an attack by Brodie Chapman (Groupama FDJ) that proved to be the winning move. Chapman worked hard for her victory, leading consistently at the head of the race throughout the second half as the breakaway formation changed around her.
Behind, the peloton finished 26seconds adrift with Jessica Allen trying her luck in the sprint for 15th.
