Stage 3: Follonica - Trevi - Stage Details

The best young rider of the 2016 Tour de France Adam Yates came within three seconds of victory for Mitchelton-SCOTT on stage three of Tirreno-Adriatico after a late attack and chase up the steep final climb to the town of Trevi.

The longest stage of the race was deceptively described as a mid-mountain stage, but included more than 3,000metres of elevation over 239kilometres and it was a slow affair until right at the end.

Primoz Roglic (LottoNL-Jumbo) took the initiative with two kilometres to go and attacked up the final climb to take the stage win with Yates very close behind in second.
