Tour de Hongrie - Race Overview

Recent Tour de Czech winner Damien Howson made a brave and powerful attack into the final 2.5km of today’s  Queen stage at the Tour de Hongrie but was denied the victory, having to settle for a third-place finish, after a late move from local Hungarian rider Attila Valter (CCC Team) saw him clinch the win in the final moments.

Looking as though he had his second race win of the season sealed, Howson pushed on ahead solo towards the line, but in the closing kilometre the 28-year-old began to fade slightly, with Valter using it to his advantage to launch past and claim the stage win and overall race victory.
