Tour de Romandie
Stage 2: Champéry to Bulle - Stage Details

23-year-old Alex Edmondson sprinted to fourth place on today’s second stage at the Tour de Romandie, as two breakaway riders survived to the finish line to claim the top two spots on the tough, cold stage.

Harsh weather conditions led the race organisers to shorter the stage down to 136kilometres with a breakaway of four riders animating the third day of the tour.

In the end, two escapees, Stefan Kung (BMC Racing) and Andrey Grivko (Astana) succesfully stayed away until finish line in Bulle with ORICA-SCOTT left battling for the minor placings.

Sport director Neil Stephens was happy with the decision to shorten the distance and satisfied with the team result after such a testing day weather-wise.

“Right from the start the race organised made a good decision to take a way the first descent,” Stephens explained. “We knew it was always going to be a cold day and the riders dressed as best they could but it was still a challenging day.”
