Tour Down Under - Race Overview

Defending and two-time champion Daryl Impey has settled for sixth overall at the 2020 Santos Tour Down Under after a 20th place finish on the final stage up Willunga.

The South African champion began the day in the leader’s ochre jersey, with a two second lead over eventual winner Richie Porte (Trek-Segafredo), but didn’t have the legs on the final climb.

Teammate Simon Yates tried to go toe-to-toe with Porte up Willunga but also dropped back to finish 10th on the stage and seventh overall, whilst Lucas Hamilton (ninth) gave Mitchelton-SCOTT three in the top ten.
