Stage 3: Men Tou Gou - Badaling Great Wall - Stage Details

Christian Meier spent the day in a five rider breakaway before leading the race alone on the Great Wall of China. Meier was part of a move that formed early on in the stage. He attacked his breakmates inside the final 15 kilometers and forged ahead alone before the peloton caught him with eight kilometers left to race

With the race back together ahead of the finish, Simon Clarke kept himself well-positioned on the final climb to finish in 11th place.

"The plan on stage three was to put Christian Meier in a breakaway in the second half of the race. An opportunity came earlier than expected, and he took it. It may have been too early, but sometimes a race decides when is the right time. Christian went when he saw a chance." - Sports Director Laurenzo Lapage
