Tour of Britain
Stage 4: Mansfield to Newark - Stage Details

Two-time stage winner Caleb Ewan finished in 15th place on today’s fourth stage at the OVO Tour of Britain which concluded once again with a bunch sprint.

Racing in the green jersey as the overall race leader, Ewan found himself in perfect position coming into the final 600metres on the wheel of teammate Roger Kluge, however, as the sprint opened up behind, Ewan was swamped with no clear pathway to contest another stage win.

The ORICA-SCOTT rider had to settle for a minor placing as Fernando Gaviria (Quickstep-Floors) claimed the stage win in what was another close sprint.

After today's 165kilometre stage, Ewan drops out of the overall race lead due to Elia Viviani (Team Sky) taking six bonus seconds on the line to move ahead of the young Australian but now on the same time.

“Roger did a really good job of getting my right to the front in the final once the breakaway came back,” said Ewan after the finish. “We were there a bit early but in a good position.”
