Tour of California - Race Overview

A successful week for Mitchelton-SCOTT at the Amgen Tour of California drew to a close in downtown Sacramento today with Australian sprinter Caleb Ewan third on the day and Adam Yates fourth on the general classification.

Flat, but windy the short final stage was destined to only ever end in one way and that was the bunch sprint. Once the early breakaway quartet had been caught with less than ten kilometres remaining the race came to life.

Once again it was Ewan against Fernando Gaviria (Quick-Step-Floors) and the two fast men went toe to toe with the Colombian just coming out on top by a wheel length to take the stage and the green points jersey.
