Lucas joined squad in 2018 from the team's Continental outfit after a string of strong performances at under-23 level. Hamilton already proved his reputation as one of Australia’s top young climbers in his first season as a pro before an impressive debut at the Giro d'Italia in 2019.

His first elite victory at the 2019 Settimana Internazionale Coppi e Bartali was backed up in 2020 with his maiden WorldTour win on stage four of Tirreno Adriatico.
